MetaTrader is a third party platform supported by a wide range of brokers, typically available as a desktop download, webtrader and mobile app. Its two current versions in general use are MT4 and MT5.
However MetaTrader is perhaps equally well known as a platform which supports automated trading by robots, as well as trading where the human trader executes their own trades. These can be downloaded or even built by the trader to execute strategies, for example trades based on indicator signals. Robots have a number of advantages over the human trader, but can also produce drawdown or losses in the trader's account, in situations where the trader might exercise their discretion and exit a trade.
However the very fact that robots will continue executing a trade in the face of drawdown is one reason they are used, as the trade may or may not work out in the end. For the trader who executes their own trades and wants to perform their own analysis, MT4 and MT5 have the usual range of charting tools such as technical indicators. MetaTrader can also include social and copy trading, whether these features are supported or not depends on the broker. A point to consider about MetaTrader is that the trader signs up with a broker to trade on it and the broker decides which features to support and what markets to provide, within the capacity and constraints of the platform.
IQ Option is a broker and offers a platform available as a desktop download, a web trader and as a mobile app, which has been developed over a number of iterations. It aims to be user friendly and has an arguably attractive appearance. This platform is designed for the trader who executes their own trades, it does not include the capacity to automate trades or the capacity to use social trading information or to copy trade.
MetaTrader typically has less indicators, however the trader can download and build technical indicators in addition to trading robots.MT4 to IQ OPTION
Some MetaTrader brokers provide cent accounts. These are accounts which let the trader trade with trade sizes smaller than micro lots 0. For example XM in the table above provides a cent account called a Micro account at XM which has trade sizes down to 0. Thus cent accounts also tend to have smaller minimum deposits as the trader can potentially trade with smaller account sizes. The range of market and features offered by the MetaTrader platform depends on the broker while similarly IQ Option determines the features offered by its platform and the markets available to trade.

It has become so popular that many brokers that have developed their own custom trading platforms also offer MT4. Unfortunately, IQ Option is not one of these brokers. Like many brokers, IQ Option have gone down the route of developing their own platform rather than offering users a ready-made, third party solution like Metatrader 4.
We are big fans of what IQ Option has developed here. While it might not match Metatrader 4 for popularity, they have produced a clean and simple platform that would be perfect for a beginner making their first trades. If you are used to trading using MT4 it can be a challenge to get used to a brand-new platform. They have clearly spent a lot of time on the user interface, with a strong focus on keeping things clean, simple and easy to use.

You can also customise the colour and thickness of the lines, bars and candles to get the charts looking exactly as you like them. The only thing we found a little confusing at first is the default setting to change the time period of the candles automatically when you zoom in and out on a chart.
Everything we needed was easy to find and we never felt the platform was getting in our way. We suggest giving it a go, you might even find it improves your trading. Switching to a different platform when you are used to using one in particular, like MT4, can be difficult.

Basically, it is a contract that grants the option buyer the right but not obligation to buy or to sell an asset at a previously agreed price the Strike price at some point in future.
The option seller, in turn, is obliged to sell or buy the asset, if the buyer decides to exercise the option. The right to buy an asset is called a Call option; the right to sell is the Put option.
Each of these types of options can be bought or sold. The following four type of deals exist:. Two styles of options include American and European. American options can be exercised at any time up to the expiration date.
European options can be exercised only on the expiration date. One of the main properties of an option is its strike price. It is the price at which the option buyer can purchase or sell the underlying asset, and the option seller is obliged to sell or purchase the asset. An option is sold or purchased not at the full cost of the underlying asset, but at a certain fee for a risk of adverse underlying price change until the option expiry.
The option price is the premium, which is determined by two factors:. As seen from the board, the higher the strike price, the lower the cost of the call contract and the higher the cost of the put contract.
The strike price, which is closest to the current market value of the underlying asset, is shown in green. This price is also called a central strike. The following three types of options are possible depending on the ratio between the strike price and the market price:. The theoretical price is calculated for each strike based on the price history of the underlying asset.
The calculation is based on the Black-Scholes modelin which the key point in determining the theoretical price is the volatility of the underlying asset.
The main idea of this model is risk-free hedging: when one simultaneously buys the underlying asset and sells the call option to this underlying, the profit and loss must exactly compensate each other. Implied Volatility is also shown on the Options Board.
It is specified as a percentage, and characterizes the expectations of market participants about the future value of the underlying asset of the option. The higher the volatility value, the greater the change in the underlying asset price expected by traders. The dependence of the implied volatility on the option strike price is shown in the separate Volatility tab. This chart shows how the implied volatility changes depending on the option strike price.
Typically, the lowest volatility values are found near the strike price, which are very close to the current market value of the underlying asset.
The further the strike price is from the current market, the greater future price change is expected by traders. The chart form resembles an arc and is called "Volatility Smile". If the volatility smile is symmetrical, market participants equally expect the underlying price to grow and to fall. If the volatility smile is shifted to the right, as shown in the image above, participants are more likely to expect the asset to fall.
The Options Board includes a built-in strategy analysis tool, which allows analyzing open positions and modeling various investment portfolios. For example, you may open a virtual position on the underlying asset, enter into a virtual option contract, and analyze the effectiveness of such a combination. To model a situation, you may create a portfolio manually or use available templates of popular option strategies, such as Long Strangle, Bull Put Spread, Long Put Butterfly, and others.
In addition to the general parameters of options, the Analysis tab features the so-called Greeks. These are statistical variables that help evaluate the sensitivity of the option price to changes in various parameters, which include strike prices, volatility, current price of the underlying asset, expiration date, etc.
The Greeks will help you evaluate the risk of an adverse option price change based on the option parameters. Charts visualizing changes in Greeks depending on the option strike price are shown at the bottom. Use buttons on the toolbar or context menu to switch between the charts. Different profit and loss calculation methods apply to each strategy combination of options.
However, they are calculated as the difference between the strikes or the strike and the price of the underlying asset and the premiums paid.First Scoring PlayOwn goals, overs and behinds will count as first scoring play.
